Located north of Ioannina, Zagori or Zagoria is known as the 46 villages that pop up between the pine and fir forested mountains of Pindos. It has a landscape with shady canyons and serpentine rivers, dangerous yet inviting. People coexist with nature from the ancient times and create. The mountains and rivers offer alternative forms of tourism such as hiking and trekking, climbing, mountain biking, paragliding and canoeing, kayaking and rafting down the icy waters of rivers Aoos and Voidomatis. The National Park of Vikos – Aoos is characterized by impressive geological formations and rare flora and fauna. The Vikos Canyon and the Aoos Canyon are places of incomparable beauty.
